Professor Roy Nelson, whose wife recently ended up "missing" after a plane crash, becomes obsessed with the disappearance of his elderly summer neighbor, a Finnish American gentleman who worked in Intelligence during World War II. Readers know that someone flung this man off the Mackinac bridge, but not why, and after several of Roy's limp attempts at investigating, they do not much care. Wooden dialog and mundane prose only underscore a lackadaisical plot and flat characterization. Locals may find something of interest here, but others can look elsewhere. (c) Copyright 2010.
