Nydegger (management and psychology, Union College) offers straightforward information on the multiple aspects of suicide. Part of the "Health and Medical Issues Today" series, the book is organized into three sections: "Overview and Background Information," "Contemporary Controversies and Issues," and "Primary Documents." The text is written clearly and simply, providing nonjudgmental facts that include definitions, statistics, risk factors, and prevention strategies. The author also discusses historical aspects, antidepressant medications, and legal aspects, including the right to die. A time line, a listing of important organizations, and a glossary of terms round out the work. With an informative, comprehensive narrative, the book can serve as an excellent resource on suicide and suicide prevention for students and health care providers as well as patients and their families. Summing Up: Recommended. All undergraduate students, general readers, and health care professionals/practitioners. --Brenda L. Marshall, William Paterson Universtiy of New Jersey
