- Shared vision : [electronic resource] : Transformational leadership in American community colleges. by Roueche, John E.;
Based on a study of 256 exemplary community college presidents, this book examines the attributes of outstanding leaders and their ability to orchestrate organizational change. Chapter 1 provides the background for the study, emphasizes the importance of leadership, and identifies attributes common to transformational leaders; that is, leaders who work with their followers so that each raises the other to higher levels of motivation and morality. Chapter 2 summarizes leadership theory and offers a discussion of transformational leadership and its place in a rapidly changing society. After chapter 3 reviews the study methodology, chapters 4 and 5 present findings on the demographic and leadership characteristics of the presidents selected for in-depth study. Chapters 6 through 10 discuss key elements of transformational leadership, including shared vision, teamwork and collaborative decision making, institutional climate and the relationship between the institution and the...Requires OverDrive Read (file size: N/A KB) or Adobe Digital Editions (file size: 24433 KB) or Adobe Digital Editions (file size: 2508 KB).

- The food sharing revolution : how start-ups, pop-ups, and co-ops are changing the way we eat / by Carolan, Michael S.;
Includes bibliographical references (pages 161-174) and index.Introduction: Ownership through sharing -- A nightmare realized -- When sharing is illegal -- The promise of access -- Social trade-offs -- Putting shared technologies to work -- Overcoming barriers -- Walls make terrible neighbors -- From pricks to partners -- Food sovereignty.Tells the stories of traditional producers who are being squeezed by big agribusiness, and entrepreneurs who are bucking the corporate food system by eschewing the burdens of individual ownership and tapping into the sharing economy. Those who are participating in the sharing economy are sharing tractors, seeds, kitchen space, their homes, and their cultures. They are business owners like Dorothy, who opened her bakery with the help of a no-interest, crowd-sourced loan. They are chefs like Camilla, who introduces diners to her native Colombian cuisine through peer-to-peer meal sharing. Their success is not only good for aspiring producers, but for everyone who wants an alternative to monocrops and processed foods. The key to successful sharing, Carolan shows, is actually sharing. He warns that food, just like taxis or hotels, can be co-opted by moneyed interests. But when collaboration is genuine, the sharing economy can offer both producers and eaters freedom, even sovereignty. The result is a healthier, more sustainable, and more ethical way to eat. --Adapted from publisher description.
