Oliver! Cover Image DVD DVD

Oliver!

Summary: A young orphan, Oliver is left to fend for himself until he is befriended by a band of young thieves who quickly train him in their craft. But Oliver is not content to be a thief--for he knows that life holds great joys and true happiness cannot be stolen--but must be earned. Arguably the last great old-fashioned movie musical to receive near-universal critical acclaim, Oliver! first hit screens more than 37 years ago. As transformed into a film, the timeless West End and Broadway show remains incredibly faithful to the classic work of literature by Charles Dickens, dank and dark, an anomaly of song-and-dance cinema. A film of many facets, it is both a warts-and-all view of Victorian London, an adaptation of a classic novel, a salient slice of significant social commentary, and a rip-roaring tune-filled toe tapper to boot.
